About me...

I live on a small farm at the edge of the Peak District. It's a beautiful place to live and I make every effort never to take it for granted. My family have been farming this quiet corner of Derbyshire for the past 400 years and very possibly longer.

Our farm covers just over 200 acres upon which we run a dairy herd of about 70 cows. We also have 200 sheep and a few beef suckler cows. Ours is a small traditional family farm, a rare breed in itself these days, and we are one of only two working dairy farms left in our parish.
I have had a passion for the natural world my whole life- in particular birds. Birds are some of the most visible of creatures meaning that once you begin to notice them, you soon find yourself drawn into their world. You delight in their presence, you mourn their disappearance and because of this they help you understand the effect your actions have on the world around you.

I wholeheartedly believe that farming and conservation can work well together and by doing so they can ensure a productive and protected future for our countryside.
